Pair Charged In Fatal Shooting Near NJ State Prison In Trenton

Two people have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting at a bar near a New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, authorities said.

A 17-year-old Trenton male is charged with murder, attempted murder and multiple weapons offenses. He was arrested without incident on Saturday, March 25, in Hamilton, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri.

He was being held at the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center.

Nilson Zepeda-Galicia, 24, of Hamilton, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a weapon, Onofri said.

Zepeda-Galicia was charged on Friday evening, March 24, shortly after the shooting. 

At approximately 10:40 p.m. on Friday, Trenton police received several calls reporting shots fired at 602 Federal St.. Police found two adult male gunshot victims near the GT Bar and Lounge. The bar is across the street from the rear of a New Jersey State Prison.

The victims were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where Harold Rosario, 19, of Trenton, was pronounced dead a short time later, Onofri said. The second victim, a 28-year-old man, remains hospitalized, he said.

The investigation is ongoing.
